A cargo steamship owned by the Austro-Hungarian merchant
marines, the Josephine was built in 1864 and sank some 50 years later when it
hit a mine while sailing to Trieste.
The force of the explosion ripped the prow
from the rest of the hull that now lies not far from the rest of the wreck. The
wreck lies in an upright position, and it is possible to dive through some of
its parts.
The few remains of fishing nets that cover the wreck add to the diving experience and do not present any danger.
